QMF Construction was awarded the contract by Comdain Civil Constructions to complete 4 valve pits along the pipeline. The project will connect two supply zones on opposite sides of the Brisbane River, Bartleys Hill Reservoir in Ascot and Wellers Hill Reservoir in Murarrie. This project is part of Queensland Urban Utilities’ capital expenditure program to ensure the sustainability of the water network.

QMF Construction’s scope of works on this project included but was not limited to:

  • Kingsford Smith Valve pit
  • Southbank Valve pit
  • Northbank Valve pit
  • Flowmeter and PRV pit

Other aspects of the project included; working within some residential zones, (consequently a need to minimise noise, dust and disruption to neighbourhoods and traffic), working within strict timelines to minimise impact on water supply network, and working in a confined space.

Works expected to be completed: May 2018
