QMF Construction was awarded the contract by Entracon Civil to carry out all associated concrete works on the Clarrie Hall Dam Spillway Upgrade in the Tweed Shire.

Scope of works on this project included but was not limited to:

  • Placement of reinforcement and structural concrete works associated with raising the spillway wall by 2 metres
  • Strengthening the existing walls by placing a 300mm skin of concrete, constructed using single sided form work (height of 10.5 metres)
  • Constructing 234 precast parapets on site to raise crest of the dam wall

Other aspects of the project included:

  • Working in operating dam environment where water levels are to be maintained
  • Working within an area enclosed by temporary coffer dams
  • Working with one side formwork
  • Working at heights (10.5m walls)
  • Setting up and constructing pre-cast parapet units to raise dam wall
