QMF Construction was awarded the structural concrete works contract by Gongues Constructions to upgrade the Gunnedah Sewage Treatment Plant, in the north east NSW township of Gunnedah.

This upgrade project has been a long time coming for a town that is showing good growth, particularly as some current infrastructure was nearly a century old. Some of the equipment that will be replaced as part of this project is almost 100 years old.The new works will future-proof Gunnedah’s sewerage treatment facility until the year 2038.

 

Scope of works on this project included but was not limited to:

  • Roadworks
  • Septage receival station
  • Inlet lift pumping station
  • Inlet works
  • Digester
  • Feed averaging tank
  • Sludge feed pumping station
  • Sludge pumping station
  • Sludge de watering facility
  • Control/MCC building

 

Other aspects of the project included working within a tight construction program, access constraints, working at heights, working with conventional and engineered formwork systems to deliver a detailed product, adapting program to accommodate winter weather patterns.
